About Us

Istognosis is a software house based in Nicosia, Cyprus with well established expertise in cloud-oriented and big data technologies with emphasis on Internet of Things (IoT) systems while at the same time excels in designing and developing web-based applications and services across a diverse spectrum of industries such as transportation, healthcare, energy and agriculture. Istognosis invests in R&D activities involving machine learning, image analysis, computer vision, robotics, intelligent systems and networks. Currently, Istognosis provides solutions mainly in three overlapping directions: (a) in the design and development of highly available cloud based applications and solutions, (b) in providing IoT hardware/software solutions mainly for vehicle fleets using state-of-the-art algorithms and tools, as well as (c) in designing and developing energy-efficient and cost-effective renewable energy solutions for private and commercial buildings under the brand name Save Electricity. Businesswise, Istognosis developed and owns (a) the NAVARCHOS fleet management platform which currently serves more than 25 small-scale fleets of a total of 140 commercial vehicles and (b) the ARCHIMIDES framework for cost/energy-efficient PV system analysis and design. Furthermore, Istognosis develops, maintains and supports a number of web applications and solutions for a wide range of customers from both the public and the private sector such as Bank of Cyprus, University of Cyprus, Open University of Cyprus, Costas Papaellinas Organization and others. Moreover, Istognosis has been involved in several EU-funded and RPF-funded projects such as REDUCTION project (7th Framework Programme Call 7), AgriRobot project (RPF, 2010-13), SAVSAR project (Bilateral Greece - Israel 2014-15), BaSE project (EU funded project under the Erasmus+ 2015-16), and NAVARCHOS 2 project (RPF 2018-20), for the innovative enhancement of the existing NAVARCHOS platform.

Dr. Ioannis Constantinou
Dr. Ioannis ConstantinouFounder, Director, Developer, System Integrator

Dr. Ioannis Constantinou was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1982. Dr. Ioannis Constantinou is founder and director of Istognosis ltd. Dr. Constantinou received his Dipl-Ing. Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from National Technical University of Athens, his MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the Postgraduate Program of the University of Patras and National Technical University of Athens, and his PhD degree from the Computer Science Department of the University of Cyprus in the area of image analysis/computer vision. Dr. Constantinou has been involved in several EU-funded and RPF-funded research projects related to robotics (AgriRobot, SAVSAR), telemedicine (e-Herophilous, MARTE-III, Telehabilitation), e-learning (mEducator), Internet of Things (REDUCTION, NAVARCHOS 2), advance image processing and analysis (CAD_Gen, ABCD-CAD), biological procedure modeling and simulation (PENED 03) and e-health (FISTAR, eHealth4U, eHealth4Ageing, CEF NCPeH) . He contributed to more than 20 papers in scientific conference and journals in the area of robotics, medical image analysis, computer vision and ehealth. Moreover, Dr. Constantinou participated in IHE Connectathon 2015 and 2016 and in IHE Expandathon 2015. Dr. Constantinou was an active member of the UCY eHealth team which was the first university worldwide to succeed IHE XDS.b, PDQv3, and epSOS PS interoperability standards in IHE Connectathon 2015. Since 2016, Dr Constantinou is the technical Leader of the Cyprus CEF NCPeH project for integrate national e-Health infrastructure with NCP for cross border eHealth Information exchange. Additionally, since 2017, Dr Constantinou is the technical leader in CEF Electronic Exchange of Social Security Information (EESSI) project for the deployment of Access Point in Cyprus and for the integration of national infrastructure with Access Point for cross border social Security information exchange.

Mr. Christos Constantinou
Mr. Christos ConstantinouDeveloper, Maintenance & Support

Mr. Christos Constantinou received his Dip.-Ing from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since 2013, Mr. Constantinou is working as a front/back end web developer and software/hardware integrator in Istognosis. He has been involved in supporting the hardware/software integration in the “REDUCTION” project. He is heavily involved in front-end development, UI-testing, and installation of vehicle tracking systems in Navarchos fleet management platform. He has been also involved in various web based solutions. Recently, he is collaborating with the Department of Psychology of the University of Cyprus on a research project to build an interactive, gaming-oriented web application for smoking prevention.

Mrs. Christina Koumourou
Mrs. Christina KoumourouDeveloper, System Integrator

Mrs Christina Koumourou was born in London, UK in 1982. She received her B.Sc. in Computer Science from the School of Informatics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2005 followed by a Master degree in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus in 2008. She was appointed as a teaching assistant in a number of introductory and programming-related courses in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus from September 2007 to May 2010 on a part-time basis. She worked as a programmer in MedTechSol Ltd from September 2008 to June 2010 for the development of a medical tool for the diagnosis of endometrial cancer as well as for the development of a medical record software (in Matlab, C#). She was also responsible for updating and maintaining the corporate website. She worked as a front-end/back-end web programmer in Istognosis Ltd from June 2010 to September 2011 being responsible for the development of a number of websites. She was appointed as a special scientist in the Laboratory of Internet Computing of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus from October 2012 to July 2013. Her main responsibilities involved the design, development and maintenance of research projects websites. She was also appointed as a teacher of Computer Science in a special unit of the Ministry of Education called (Nea Synchroni Mathiteia) from October 2015 to June 2018. As of September 2018, she works on a part-time basis for the RPF-funded project Navarchos 2 as a programmer contributing to the collection of system requirements and to the development of the underlying infrastructure.

Mrs. Maria Demetriou
Mrs. Maria DemetriouSecretary, Office Support

Mrs Maria Demetriou was born in Nicosia in 1987. She received her B.Sc in Greek Studies from the Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2010. She worked as a teacher assistant in a number of nursery private school from January 2011 to January 2012. Since December of 2016 she works as a secretary and offers office support and bookkeeping services at Istognosis.
